The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC)
in Engineering for England (HTQ) has been developed in collaboration with
employers, professional bodies, and higher education providers to develop
students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands
of employers in the engineering sector.
This Higher National Certificate offers a comprehensive
curriculum that combines theoretical understanding with practical applications,
ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of today's
technologically advanced industries.

designed to lay the foundations to equip you with the introductory knowledge,
skills and behaviours that all engineers require - irrespective of future
specialism.
Course Content
This course covers a comprehensive range of subjects,
ensuring students gain a strong grasp of the underpinning principles that
support a successful career in engineering. Our highly experienced industry
experts and academics will guide you through your learning, including lectures,
seminars, online activities, practical activities, laboratory skills, peer-group
learning and independent study.
You will be involved in vocational activities that help
you to develop behaviours (the attitudes and approaches required for competence)
and transferable skills. Transferable skills are communication, teamwork,
research and analysis, which are highly valued in higher education and the
workplace. You will undertake various assessments, including professional
discussions, practicals, essays, reports and
presentations.
Entry Requirements
64 tariff points in A-Level subjects, including maths or a Level 3 BTEC or T-Level in an engineering discipline. Minimum grade 4/C in GCSE Maths and English.
Progression
This Level 4 course lays the foundation of learning by
providing a broad introduction to the engineering sector. This develops and
strengthens core skills while preparing students for more specialist subjects at
Level 5, where students can progress to an HND in Engineering for England (HTQ)
or enter employment with the qualities necessary for job roles that require some
personal responsibility.
