Unlock your potential with fully funded Skills Bootcamps in Swimming Teaching and Lifeguarding.

This intensive 8-week programme is designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and industry-recognised qualifications from the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) and Safety Training Awards (STA) needed to launch or advance your career in the aquatic and leisure industry.

These certifications, taught on-site at Lonsdale/Gayton Pools in Derby, allow you to teach swimming lessons for all ages and abilities and work independently as a lifeguard. Delivered by Training Aquatic Courses Ltd and shaped in collaboration with Core Aquatics, this programme ensures you receive expert training aligned with industry needs. From private health clubs to school pools and leisure centres, your career opportunities will be endless.

Entry Requirements

  • Our Skills Bootcamps are open to anyone aged 19 or older, living in England, and eligible to work in the UK.
  • 19 years of age or older
  • Resident in the UK for the past three years
  • Live in England
  • Have the right to study and work in the UK
  • Hold no similar qualifications
  • Jump/dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 meters in no more than 60 seconds
  • Swim 100 meters continuously on front
  • Swim 100 meters continuously on back
  • In deep water, tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool designs permits

Progression

You will be sufficiently qualified to work within the industry as a standalone swimming teacher and lifeguard.
